DeClercqDayle DeClercq, Dayle LeMay DeClercq passed away peacefully in his home January 3rd, after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. He was 82.

Dayle was born on August 8th, 1932 in Barrett, MN. He proudly served his country in the Korean War. After serving in the military, Dayle received his teaching degree from St. Cloud State University. He began his teaching career in 1959 at Chi Hi in Lindstrom, MN. He continued to teach in the Chisago Lakes School District for the next 39 years, and will be remembered by many in the community for being their social studies teacher. Since retiring from teaching in 1998, Dayle has spent many hours volunteering in our community. He was a stream monitor with the MN DNR, helped with the formation of Lindstrom's Allemansratt Park, and sold bird seed and organized roadside clean-ups with the Audobon Society. He delivered Meals on Wheels. Dayle was an active member of the Lions Club and The American Legion, where he was often a member of the Honor Guard at parades and funerals.

Dayle was a longtime Chisago County DFL leader.  Dayle was always involved with running the DFL County or Senate District convention. He and his wife Bonnie have helped local DFL candidates for the past 40 years. His political knowledge and wisdom will be greatly missed.
Dayle is preceded in death by brothers Gene and Donald.

Dayle is survived by his wife Bonnie; daughters Jolane, Kimberly, Kaisa, and Monica; siblings Roger, Wayne, Carlton, and Valerie; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Memorial Service was Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City, MN.
