Early Voting opens for 2020 Presidential Primary
Friday, January 17, 2020
While Minnesota’s primary will take place on Super Tuesday, March 3rd, early voting in the primary will begin on Friday, January 17th.
“Minnesotans across our state have been fired up to learn that, in just a few days, we will be able to cast our ballots in the Democratic presidential primary,” said Ken Martin, Chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. “Minnesota voters will soon have the good fortune of choosing a Democratic presidential nominee from amongst the largest, most diverse, and most qualified field of candidates that our party has seen in decades.”
For the first time in 28 years, Minnesotans will be voting in a presidential primary, rather than caucusing. Minnesota law requires early voting to begin 46 days before an election. As a result, starting January 17th, Minnesotans will cast some of the earliest primary ballots in the nation.
“After a year of debates and speeches, town halls and campaign stops, one thing is perfectly clear to voters across Minnesota: any one of our candidates would make a far better president than Donald Trump,” added Martin. “Whether you vote early or on election day, I strongly encourage every Minnesotan to get out and make their voice heard in our presidential primary election.”
