CHISAGO COUNTY EXTENSION COMMITTEE – Seeks Applicants from Districts 1 and 4, and an at-large position.
The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks three (3)applicants for appointment to vacancies on the Chisago County Extension Committee. The positions are district specific appointments.  The Extension Committee needs applicants from Districts 1, 4 and an At-Large appointment. The Extension Committee has three major areas of responsibility, as defined by the state statute:
 
1. Program development and evaluation. The committee develops an annual program of work in cooperation with the U of MN Extension Service. Assist in identifying county needs and matching or empowering county or regional staff in meeting those needs through education programming.
 
2. Personnel. The committee members often service on the search and interview committees to recommend suitable, qualified persons for Extension educator positions to the Extension dean and director of Extension. By state statute, Extension educators are U of MN employees. The committee also provides yearly input to the Extension Director or supervisor regarding Extension educator performance in development and delivery of the identified programs.
 
3. Budget development. The committee, working with Extension, prepares an annual budget of funds needed for the maintenance,support, and expenses of the county’s Extension work and submits it to the County Board for approval.
 
Appointments are for a three-year term. CHISAGO COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT – Seeks Applicants from Districts 2 and 4.
The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks two (2) applicants for appointment to the vacancies on the Chisago County Board of Adjustment. The positions are district specific appointments.  The Board of Adjustment needs applicants from Districts 2, and 4.  The Board of Adjustment has the following powers with respect to the Chisago County Zoning Ordinance; to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged that there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance, and hear requests for variances from the literal provisions of this Ordinance in instances where their strict enforcement would cause undue hardship because of circumstances unique to the individual property under consideration.

Board members are appointed for a three year term.  The District 4 appointment expires in 2020.  The District 2 appointment is for a full three-year term.  The meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of every month in Room 131 of the Chisago County Government Center at 7 pm.  Interested citizens must submit an Application for Appointment Form to the Chisago County Clerk of Board, 313 North Main Street, Room 175, Center City, MN 55012.  The form is available by contacting County Administration at 651/213-8830 or by going to http://mn-chisagocounty.civicplus.com/.  Information about the position is available from the Clerk of the Board at 651/213-8877 and on our website, http://mn-chisagocounty.civicplus.com/.

CHISAGO COUNTY HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY/ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY – Seeks Applicants from District 4
The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks an applicant for appointment to a vacancy on the Chisago County Chisago County Housing and Redevelopment Authority – Economic Development Authority. The position is a district specific appointment.  The HRA-EDA needs an applicant from District #4.  The purpose of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority – Economic Development Authority is to improve the commercial and industrial tax base within the county with an emphasis on assisting our existing businesses, and marketing the County for new business development opportunities and to promote and maintain a high quality of life in Chisago County by encouraging affordable housing development and private investment through a collaborative effort with local units of government and other interested organizations in Chisago County.

The District 4 appointment ends 12/31/2022.  The meetings are held on the last Tuesday of every month, at 12 p.m. at the Housing and Redevelopment Authority-Economic Development Authority (HRA-EDA) Office in North Branch.  Special meetings are also called if the need arises.

CHISAGO COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION – Seeks Applicants from District 2, and two at-large applicants.
The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks three (3) applicants for appointments to soon to be vacant appointments on the Chisago County Planning Commission. The Planning Commission needs a District 2, appointment and 2 At-Large appointments.  The Planning Commission’s purpose is to promote the proper planning and development of Chisago County. The Planning Commission is established pursuant to Minnesota State Statute 394 and has the following duties and responsibilities:

This Board shall have the following powers with respect to the Chisago County Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance:

• To adopt rules for the transaction of its business and shall keep public record of its transactions, findings, and recommendation.

• To cooperate with the Zoning Administrator and other employees of the County in preparing and recommending to the Board for adoption, comprehensive plans and recommendations for plan execution in the form of official controls and other measures, and amendments thereto.

• To provide assistance to the County Board and Zoning Administrator in the administration of the zoning and subdivision ordinances and shall review, hold public hearings and make recommendation to the County Board.

• Such other duties as the County Board may request or prescribe.

CHISAGO COUNTY PARK BOARD – Seeks Applicants from District 1 and 5
The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks two (2) applicants for appointment to the vacancies on the Chisago County Park Board. The positions are district specific appointments.  The Park Board needs applicants from Districts 1 and 5.  The purpose of the Park Board is to coordinate the County Parks Program relative to federal, state, county, and local planning efforts in order to produce the highest level of facilities and improve communications to minimize duplication of efforts.

Board members are appointed for a three year term. FRANCONIA TOWNSHIP – Notice of filing for Township Offices to be Elected on March 12, 2019

Notice is hereby given that a township election will be held in the Township of Franconia, Chisago County, Minnesota, at 25156 St. Croix Trail North, on Tuesday, the 12th day of March, 2019. 

The first day for filing affidavits of candidacy will be January 1, 2019. The last day will be Tuesday, the 15th, 2019, at 5:00 p.m.

Chisago Lake TOWNSHIP – Notice of filing for Township Offices to be Elected on March 12, 2019
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Township Election shall be held in and for the Township of Chisago Lake, Chisago County, MN on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.  During this election, the following Township offices shall be filled:

• Township Supervisor – three (3) year term
