MN Primary Voting


The primary for offices that are not the U.S. President, takes place through Aug 12. The primary narrows the field for the general election in November 2024.  There are eight people who have filed for U.S. Senator on the GOP side to run against Amy Klobuchar, and five on the Democrat side.

You can vote your candidate preference in the primary “absentee” now,  at the Chisago County Government Center,  or you can request a ballot through mail from the Secretary of State office, by going to the SOS MN website.

Voting at the Chisago County government center is Monday through Friday 8 to 4:30. Saturday August 10 is a special open day, when you can vote at the government center from 9 to 3.  

Monday, Aug 12 you can vote for primary candidates from 8 to 5 at the government center.

In person early voting (ie: at the government center) for the GENERAL election is not open until September 20.

Primary races in the Press coverage area include: incumbent State Rep. Brian Johnson and Jimmy Gordon for the GOP ticket for House Dist. 28A. Tim Dummer, is the Democrat candidate for Dist 28A. 

Mary Jo Murphy is the Democrat candidate for House Dist 28B.  Max Rymer is on the ticket for the GOP.
