No crowns. No thrones. No kings.
Those are principles America was founded upon. They were the battle cry of the Continental Congress that adopted the American flag in June of 1777, in the midst of a war to throw off a monarchy. June 14 in fact -- Flag Day.
Donald Trump has disgraced those principles. He’s actively defying our courts, sidelining Congress, cracking down on dissent, and, with this ego-driven military parade, stealing from the people to pay for his birthday party.
No Kings Day is how we’ll remind Trump, and all of our fellow Americans, that we don’t suffer kings in this country. Trump wants the world to see a glorious and powerful ruler, but what we’ll show them is a weak and unpopular president -- a lame duck flailing for attention as the masses stand up to reject him.
