DFL Senator Twyla Ring’s history in the Minnesota Senate

DFL Senator Twyla Ring passed away Friday evening, May 27, 2022.
When Twyla Ring decided to retire as the Editor of the North Branch Post Review newspaper in the fall of 1999, her dear friend, Senator Janet Johnson, had just passed away on August 21st after being diagnosed with a brain tumor in early July. Janet’s family convinced her that she would be the best person to carry on Janet’s work in the Minnesota Senate. Twyla received the endorsement of the local DFL and went on to win in a special election on Nov. 2. She also won in the next general election 2 years later.
