Local DFL SD28 Candidates

Erik Johnson

House Rep 28A

Isanti County resident Erik Johnson filed to begin his candidacy to represent District 28A in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He is the Minnesota DFL candidate running for the seat currently held by Representative Brian Johnson.

Erik, a North Branch High School graduate, attended college at St. Cloud State University. He transferred to the Minnesota School of Business and graduated with AAS in Advertising Design. He expanded his education with a

Business Writing Certificate from the University of Minnesota in recent years.

An advocate for community involvement, Erik has volunteered for organizations including; Feed My Starving Children, Reading & Math, and Boy and Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota. He has also been involved with animal rescue organizations, including being foster parents to dogs waiting for their forever homes.

Johnson has spent his career in advertising and marketing, where he has worked with clients ranging from small local business to large international companies. Despite not running for political office before, he sees parallels between his experience and politics. “Listening to what people have to say is essential…. What matters to them? Are their needs being met? Why should they trust you? All of it must be factored into your decision-making process.” Erik expanded on that, ” You need to listen to other viewpoints and constructive criticism with an open mind. That’s how people with differing opinions can find tough solutions.”

The opportunity of potentially serving as an elected representative of the district isn’t taken for granted. ” The people of our community are collectively hard-working, blue-collar citizens who simply want our voices heard and accurately represented,” Johnson said. “Every person. Every Vote. They all matter; whether I earn your vote or not, I will do everything to ensure our district’s voice is heard loud and clear.”

Erik resides in Cambridge with his wife Erin, their daughter Beatrice, and their two dogs. In their free time, they enjoy being on the water, perfecting their skills on the grill, and exploring the area’s offerings.
